Activity
Application of a management system to centrally control and connect all installations in a building. Energy is used intelligently, whereby losses are avoided as much as possible and, where possible, lower forms of energy (such as heat) are avoided. Data gathered by the Building Energy Management System can be accessed by authorised parties.
Scope
- Providers should have a building management system (BMS) which can access and monitor all key aspects of the facility - from building-data, to power & cooling systems to other electrical and mechanical infrastructure (such as UPS, generators, etc.)
- Providers could enhance the BMS using the Environmental Data Specification/API, developed by the SDIA which makes the data available to the IT infrastructure, enabling better, system-level optimizations
Research questions
- Are there best practices of building management systems in the data center space?
