Digital markets

SDIA definition

We define digital markets as markets for the commodity digital power and believe that these markets should be open and fair. This requires competition in both the demand and supply of digital power.

Other definitions

The EU’s Digital Markets Act defines the digital market as the market for digital services (what the SDIA would define as digital products) and looks to establish obligations for “gatekeepers” within these markets to ensure they engage in open and fair competitive behaviour.
Geradin (2021) explores which companies would fit the criteria of “digital gatekeepers” and would therefore be affected by the Digital Markets Act.
